Exercising and Breast ImplantsThere is varying opinion as to when exercise should be resumed after breast implants. While you should ask the surgeon who is performing your surgery, I can tell you that in my practice, I encourage a rapid return to as much activity as comfortable in the third week. The bleeding risk has passed by then and exercise should encourage the pectoralis muscle to accommodate to the implant more rapidly. Implants under the muscle are not usually a problem with actively exercising people. While they will be able to perceptibly flatten the implants while flexing without clothing, this is not usually visible in leotards and T-shirts. I encourage pectoralis exercises. While it takes a bit longer for the implants to drop into position, this leads to a thicker pectoralis muscle, which I believe helps to hide the implant and give a more natural result. |
