Eyelift Plastic Surgery

If you look tired, angry and older that you really are, an eyelift may be the answer. Lower eyelid bags make you look older. Drooping upper eyelids make you look tired and even may make you look like you are not interested in an important conversation!

Eyelifts are among the most commonly requested procedures in both men and women. Upper lid droopiness tends to make someone look both tired and a bit cross. Lower lid bagging tends to make a person look older.

Before and After Laser Assisted Lower Eyelift

Lower eyelid bagging is usually a result of protrusion of the fat that naturally cushions the eye. This fat is held back by a membrane which weakens as we get older and allows the fat to become visible as an eyelid bag. In some people, the membrane is weak when they are young. This is why lower eyelid bagging is not unheard of in younger individuals. In some people, the dark circles that they see under their eyelids, are actually shadowing from these eyelid bags and from skin folds.

Lower eyelid bags can now be corrected in most patients without any external incisions or visible incisional scars.  As a Laser Preceptor, Dr. Studin has traveled extensively to train practicing Plastic Surgeons how to perform laser eyelift. He believes that this is one of the safest and most effective ways to correct this cosmetic problem.

Upper Eyelid Correction

The skin folds  of the upper eyelid tend to increase with age. In most cases, drooping eyelids tend to make a person look tired and sometimes look angry. There are often small fat pockets towards the middle of the upper lid as well. These problems can also be improved with Laser assisted upper eyelid lift. In either upper or lower eyelid Laser cases the eye itself is protected with a special shield that the Laser cannot penetrate.

Upper and Lower Eyelift
Before and 10 Days After

  • Eyelid surgery has a very short recovery. Sometimes only a few days or a long weekend.
  • Eyelift can be done awake or asleep.
  • Lower eyelift can be done without outside scars at all in most cases.
  • Upper eyelid eyelift can be done with only a very small scar in the upper eyelid fold that  usually is not very visible when it heals.
  • Laser eyelift involves almost no bleeding and in most cases very little bruising at all!
  • Eyelift can make you look younger, fresher, more interested and alert.

Several products are available that may aid in reduction of visible scarring.  These include Cica Care silicone gel sheeting, Kelocote silicone cream, and my preference which is ScarGuard (WWW.ScarGuard.com) .  ScarGuard combines several of these modalities and is easier to use.

Whichever one you choose, I believe that scarring is, in fact, improved by using these types of products.

If you are having surgery I recommend that you review the information at WWW.ScarGuard.com and talk to your surgeon about how to achieve the best result possible. Old scars can often be treated and improved as well!
