Laser Facelift

is an exciting area of  cosmetic surgery. Many years ago, if you asked a plastic surgeon for a procedure that would make your face appear younger, you would always be offered a facelift. This is an excellent procedure for hanging jowls and a loose neck, but is very limited in improving the fine details of facial aging.

Some people have hanging necks and still look 35!

No one looks 35 if they have;

·Crow's Feet ·Smoker's Lines
·Wrinkles  ·Facial Scarring

·Large Pores

·Brown Spots

The fine details are often more important
as a cue to age than the hanging neck!
Therefore, in many people laser will help
even more than a facelift. Each case must
be evaluated for the best procedure.

Over the past  decade,  Lasers were developed that could remove the outer layers in the blink of an eye. The Pulsed CO2 Laser  actually causes tightening of the skin  leading to some amount of face-lifting as well as smoothing and clearing of brown spots and large pores!   Further microscopic analysis revealed that this treatment was also increasing the amount of your own natural Collagen, which makes the skin appear younger.

Historically, peeling and dermabrasion were done to try and correct these problems. Both left significant problems with skin color and with control of the depth of treatment.

A controlled beam of light, painted over the face
can improve wrinkles, brown spots, open pores, fine
lines, skin folds forehead creasing and crow's feet
giving you a tighter and younger look!

This procedure takes only about 30 minutes.   Our patients almost never complain of any pain at all! Most however, choose to hide for 7 - 10 days. During this time the area looks like the peeling we see after too much sun. Makeup can be applied after the first week and normal activity can be resumed.

After Resurfacing the treated area can remain pink for several weeks. For this reason, treating the whole face is usually an easier recovery process.  If someone's whole face is  pink, it looks like they spent some time at the beach. This  is almost always preferred. Whole face lasering is EASIER to hide than spot lasering.

Dr. Studin is one of the relatively few Instructors  for Coherent, Inc. the company that makes the Ultra Pulse and one of the Erbium Yag Lasers. He has trained over one hundred surgeons to perform Laser Resurfacing and Laser Eyelift! Surgeons come to his operating room almost every month to watch him perform these procedures.

As a plastic surgeon experienced in both Laser Resurfacing and Facelift, Dr. Studin can advise his patients which would be best for them. If gravity has caused jowling and a hanging neck, face-lifting is usually best. Most people, however, have more of a problem with the brown spots, pores and fine lines and can correct these and get some lifting as well with a laser resurfacing alone!

Choosing the right procedure is one of the most important steps towards achieving a successful outcome and a happy patient!
