Breast Implants - Creams / Lotions / Fat
Claims that creams and lotions can enlarge your breasts are TRUE. That is
unfortunate, because they are also misleading!
Creams and lotions can serve to swell the skin temporarily. Swollen skin
is slightly larger that it was before it was swollen. This difference is NOT significant
and certainly will not make much difference at all in a bathing suit or bra.
Injecting your own fat, harvested from another area by suction, is somewhat controversial. Amounts large enough to enlarge a breast
had been thought to cause scarring and calcium deposits that mimic cancer changes on
mammograms! This could lead to unnecessary biopsies in later years. Recently there is data that refutes this fear and the recommendation of many plastic surgeons now, is if you are going to proceed, then proceed with caution. Careful follow up would be prudent.
Probably more so than in a breast that was not treated with fat transfer. Therefore this procedure is now possible, but not for very significant increases in size and careful followup with screening exams is important.
